Meetings Purpose Projects Bereavement Support Group Contacts |
The group comes together officially on the First Fridays of each month for Liturgy
followed by a meeting and luncheon.
Several months each year outside luncheons or
trips are planned and are very well attended.
While the Seniors Group is a socially oriented one, it sponsors Conferences pertaining to issues of interest to themselves and invites the seniors of other parishes to participate. Conferences of interest lately have focused on such timely topics as Long Term Care Insurance; Legislation affecting Seniors and health concerns, among others. The monthly meeting provides a forum for the sharing of information and updating on new housing opportunities, new programs in the areas of benefit to Seniors and most importantly, provides the opportunity to meet new friends. The meetings provide a vehicle to draw and encourage the Seniors into the life of the parish and by their support, enrich our Parish Life.
The Holy Cross Seniors initiated the formation of the Cluster Seniors Group comprising individual groups of Seniors from the five parishes forming the Middle City Cluster. Over the past few years, the individual groups alternately planned events for all the Cluster Senior Groups.
Our Seniors Group is energetic and active and invites other seniors from the parish to join them at the monthly meetings and events. All forthcoming meetings and events are published in the Church bulletin.
The Holy Cross Bereavement Support Group was formed to provide an encouraging , supportive opportunity for healing for those going through the pain and grief of having lost a loved one. It is comprised of parishioners who have lost someone close to them, ranging from several years ago to more recently. The Group meets monthly, usually on Wednesday mornings.
The Group has a "coffee break" during the sharing, learning and support from one another amidst tears and laughter. New friendships are formed during the process of living one's life without the physical presence of the loved one.
Our meetings begin and end with prayer.
